  • Intro to Hockey Returns

    Intro to Hockey Returns

    Bourkevale is pleased to announce the return of introduction to hockey sessions starting Sundays this February! Children aged 5-9 are invited to join for FREE weekly sessions running every Sunday at 2-3 PM from February 4th to March 17th . These casual sessions will be focused on basic skating and puck handling drills as well as possible scrimmages. Participants must provide their own helmets and may bring their own skates or borrow from Bourkevale’s skate library (subject to availability) Please reach out to hockey@bourkevale.com to register of feel free to simply drop in.

  • In Memory of Joan Templeton

    Joan Templeton began volunteering at Bourkevale Community Centre in the 1960s when her son Mike was four years old. She was the club’s longest-serving volunteer, having given 48 continuous years of service to the centre in multiple roles, including as a member of the ladies’ auxiliary, the social committee and as part of the canteen’s volunteer staff. Joan served for many years as Bourkevale’s hall rental coordinator, the position she held when she relinquished her volunteer duties in 2017.   • South rink is not a dog park

    We’re happy that the dog owners in our community and from around St. James were able to make use of our rink this past year while we await repairs to its boards. What started as an occasional use by small dog owners has exploded to daily use by dozens of dogs of all sizes. It’s unfortunate that we have had to remove the doors on the rink, but it became necessary. The rinks and the green space within them should be accessible to everyone. They are not a city sanctioned dog park. In recent months our volunteers have had to…
